How A Rancho Penasquitos Resident “Sparks Joy” For the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation Each Park Village Community Garage Sale
In 2010, long time PQ and Park Village resident, Jamie Nangpi Harris, was diagnosed with Crohns Disease. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are collectively known as Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) and affect an estimated 3 million Americans. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine. There are no cures for these often painful and debilitating diseases.
This life altering and often debilitating disorder hasn’t kept Jamie down, though. With the aid of medication, life style changes and support from her family & friends, she is moving and shaking. Since 2011, she became Mrs Philippines San Diego, Mom to Penny and STEAM teacher at Deer Canyon Elementary, became the national spokesperson for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, founded Harris Heroes and has raised over $39,000 for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. The Mission of the Foundation is to cure crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
Jamie’s participation in the Park Village Community Garage Sale each year helps raise funds for the foundation! This year, the Christensen Realty Group are partnering with her to help bring awareness and to help raise funds for a cure. Would you like to join us? If so, you can partner one of two ways:
- Donate a portion of the proceeds from your own garage sale OR
- Donate items for Jamie to sell at her garage sale. (100% of proceeds will go to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation)
“Since 2011 Harris Heroes has raised over $39,000. We are a top fundraising team nationally and your Park Village Community Garage Sales have been a great fundraiser in raising money year after year. Our family and friends have been so wonderful in donating to us during their spring cleaning knowing that it will benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.” – Jamie
