Julia Oshiro, a senior at Westview High School, has set an ambitious goal. Here is her story and how you can support her effort:
Dear friends, family and supporters: Hello everyone and happy LLS kickoff! For those of you who don’t know, I have joined Team Answer for Cancer! This team competes in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. For seven weeks, different teams of high schoolers in San Diego work to fundraise for LLS to raise money for
cancer research, patient support, and advocacy. The 2024 LLS fundraising season is now officially underway, meaning we are on week one of our seven-week campaign! I am honored and so excited to be a part of this program, and I will be doing my best to raise as much money as I can for this important organization over the next few weeks. Thanks to the overwhelming support I received last year, I was a part of the 5k Club and won Team Member of the Year. I’ve decided to raise my goal to $5,000 this year and I need your help!
For me, this cause is very important because I lost my Aunty Cathy to leukemia in 2009. I want to raise money to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as they work towards a future where no one will have to experience the pain that cancer causes. So far, it has already been an amazing experience working with this team of high school students who want to better the lives of cancer patients and their families while working towards a cure for cancer.
